This Privacy Policy explains how Dish AI ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and protects information when you use the Dish AI mobile application (the "App").
By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information as described here.
Overview
Dish AI analyzes photos of dishes and menus to generate recipes. This policy covers every place your information touches our systems — what we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. If anything here is unclear, reach out and we'll explain it plainly.
Information We Collect
We collect the following types of information:
- Account information: your email address and, if you choose to add one, a display name and profile photo.
- Photos you scan: images of dishes and menus that you photograph or upload for recipe analysis.
- Scan history and content: the recipes generated from your scans, along with any notes, favorites, or shopping lists you create.
- Usage information: basic app activity such as scan counts, streaks, and feature usage, used to operate and improve the App.
- Subscription status: whether you have an active Premium subscription, managed through the App Store or Google Play.
How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Generate recipes, ingredients, and cooking instructions from your photos using AI analysis.
- Maintain your scan history, favorites, and personal notes so you can access them later.
- Operate core features such as streaks, milestones, and notifications.
- Provide customer support when you contact us.
- Improve the accuracy and reliability of the App over time.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your dish photos to train AI models beyond what is needed to generate your recipe.
Third‑Party Services
Dish AI relies on trusted third‑party services to operate:
- Firebase (Google): used for account authentication, and for securely storing your scan history and dish photos.
- Anthropic (Claude AI): your dish and menu photos are sent to Anthropic's API to generate recipe analysis. Anthropic processes this data to return a result and does not use it to identify you personally.
- App Store / Google Play: subscription purchases are processed directly by Apple or Google under their respective terms.
Each of these providers maintains its own security and privacy practices, which apply to data processed on their systems.
Data Storage & Security
Your data is stored securely using Firebase's infrastructure, with access restricted to your own authenticated account. We use industry‑standard security practices to protect your information, but no method of electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Your Rights & Choices
You have control over your data at all times:
- Export your data: you can export your scan history at any time from your profile.
- Delete your account: you can permanently delete your account and all associated data from your profile settings. This action cannot be undone.
- Manage notifications: you can turn individual notification types on or off in the App's settings.
Data Retention
We retain your information for as long as your account remains active. If you delete your account, your data is permanently removed from our systems, except where retention is required by law.
Children's Privacy
Dish AI is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can remove it.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
