Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Dish AI ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and protects information when you use the Dish AI mobile application (the "App").
By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information as described here.
Overview
Dish AI analyzes photos of dishes and menus to generate recipes. This policy covers every place your information touches our systems — what we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. If anything here is unclear, reach out and we'll explain it plainly.
Information We Collect
We collect the following types of information:
- Account information: your email address (or the identifier of the Apple or Google account you sign in with) and, if you choose to add one, a display name. If you use the App without creating an account, we create an anonymous account for you.
- Photos you scan: images of dishes and menus that you photograph or choose from your library for recipe analysis.
- Scan history and content: the recipes generated from your scans, along with any notes, favorites, or shopping lists you create.
- Diet and allergy preferences: the diets and allergies you choose in the App. They are sent with your photo so that recipes can flag them. This information may be considered health‑related.
- Subscriptions and purchases: which plan you have, any scan packs you bought, and the status of your purchases, managed through the App Store or Google Play and our subscription‑management provider. We never see your payment card details.
- Usage and diagnostics: how the App is used (for example, which features you use and how many scans you have left), crash reports and performance data, and basic device information such as device model, operating system version, language and an app‑instance identifier. Our analytics provider also derives your approximate location from your IP address.
- Anti‑abuse records: to stop the free scan from being claimed again and again, we use device attestation (Apple App Attest and Google Play Integrity) and keep one‑way hashed records of the accounts and installs that have used it. These records cannot be turned back into your email or device identifiers.
How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Generate recipes, ingredients, and cooking instructions from your photos using AI analysis.
- Maintain your scan history, favorites, and personal notes so you can access them later.
- Operate core features such as cooking timers, reminders and weekly cooking goals.
- Manage your subscription, scan packs and remaining scans.
- Protect the App and its free scan against fraud and abuse.
- Provide customer support when you contact us.
- Diagnose crashes and understand which features are used, so we can improve the accuracy and reliability of the App over time.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your dish photos to train AI models beyond what is needed to generate your recipe.
Third‑Party Services
Dish AI relies on trusted third‑party services to operate:
- Cloud infrastructure provider: used for account authentication, for securely storing your recipes, photos and settings, for app analytics, for crash reporting, and for app attestation (protection against abuse).
- AI service provider: your dish and menu photos, together with your language and your diet and allergy preferences, are sent to our AI provider to generate your recipe. We never send your name or email address. The provider processes this data to return a result and does not use it to identify you personally.
- Subscription management provider: manages subscriptions and scan‑pack purchases. It receives your anonymous account identifier and purchase information, not your payment details.
- Sign in with Apple and Google: if you choose one of them to sign in, it confirms your identity and shares your email address with us.
- App Store / Google Play: subscription and scan‑pack purchases are processed directly by Apple or Google under their respective terms.
Each of these providers maintains its own security and privacy practices, which apply to data processed on their systems.
Data Storage & Security
Your data is stored securely using our cloud infrastructure provider's systems, with access restricted to your own authenticated account. We use industry‑standard security practices to protect your information, but no method of electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Your Rights & Choices
You have control over your data at all times:
- Access your data: you can see your recipes and favorites in the App at any time, and you can ask us for a copy of your data by emailing dishaisupport@gmail.com.
- Delete your account: you can permanently delete your account and your data from the Me tab in the App (if you use the App as a guest, the option is called Delete my data). This action cannot be undone.
- Manage notifications: you can turn cooking reminders on or off in the App's settings or in your phone's settings.
Data Retention
We retain your information for as long as your account remains active. If you delete your account, your recipes, photos and settings are permanently removed from our systems, except where retention is required by law. We keep only the one‑way hashed anti‑abuse records described above, so that deleting and re‑creating an account does not give new free scans. Purchase records are also kept by Apple, Google and our subscription‑management provider under their own policies.
Children's Privacy
Dish AI is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can remove it.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
